Extract the files from PantrySoft™ Demo.zip to any desired folder and run PantrySoft™ Demo.accde.
With the multi-user version of the program, the data (tables) are typically stored on a network or shared folder.
Create the folder, (e.g. \\MyServer\PantrySoft or \\MyServer\Shared\PantrySoft). Ensure that it can be viewed and written to by any user that will use the program.
The software has an optional feature to view a picture of a client to aid in client identification. If this feature is desired then create an Images folder, (e.g. \\MyServer\PantrySoft \Images), and store the client pictures in this folder. The software also has an optional feature to link documents to a client. If this feature is desired then create a Documents folder, (e.g. \\MyServer\PantrySoft \Documents), and store the client pictures in this folder.
Extract all files from PantrySoft.zip or PantrySoft Single User Split.zip to the data folder.
Microsoft Access runs more quickly if the data folder is mapped to a drive letter, (e.g. Z drive). In some instances, the \\MyServer\Shared folder may already be mapped, e.g. S drive. If that is the
case then no additional drive letters need to be mapped.
The configuration file (PantrySoft.cfg for multi-user version or PantrySoft Single User Split.cfg for the Single User Split version) is used to identify the location of the data files, PantrySoft Tables.accdb and PantrySoft Archive Tables.accdb.
Edit the configuration file with a text editor, (e.g. NotePad).
Replace “Path To PantrySoft Tables” with the folder the program was extracted to: (e.g. Z:\ or S:\PantrySoft). This appears in two lines.
Replace “Path To PantrySoft Images” with the folder the images will be stored: (e.g. Z:\Images or S:\PantrySoft \Images).
Replace “Path To PantrySoft Documents” with the folder the documents will be stored: (e.g. Z:\Documents or S:\PantrySoft \Documents).
The program files can be distributed to multiple computers. They are typically placed in the same folder on each computer, (e.g. C:\PantrySoft).
For the Single User Split version, the program files are PantrySoft Single User Split.accde, PantrySoft Single User Split.cfg, PantrySoftIcon.ico and PantrySoftLogo.png
The program files are PantrySoft.accde, PantrySoft.cfg, PantrySoftIcon.ico and PantrySoftLogo.png
Copy the program files to the folder on the computers that will run the program, (e.g. C:\PantrySoft).
Security Warning Message
When you first start the program you will most likely see a security warning message. There are several ways to prevent this from reappearing. One method is to add the program files folder, (e.g. C:\PantrySoft), to the Trusted Locations of Microsoft Office. You can find help on this by using the F1 button to open Microsoft Help and entering Trust Center into the search bar and clicking on Add, Remove, or Change a Trusted Locations and following the instructions found there.
Backing Up Your Data
The PantrySoft Tables.accdb is the only file that needs to be backed-up. There is also a Compact Tables Database button on the General tab of the Options screen that is not visible in the Demo or Single User version. It will run a Compact and Repair on the PantrySoft Tables.accdb and should be done on a regular basis, maybe once a week depending on how busy the pantry is.
